About Ashtyn Barbaree

Bio

Ashtyn Barbaree is an Americana singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Fayetteville, Arkansas (USA). In 2023, she earned a nomination for Americana Artist of the Year at the Arkansas Country Music Awards.

Notably, Ashtyn has garnered recognition as an Arts on Tour Roster artist by the Arkansas Arts Council (2023-2024), the Arkansas State Music Ambassador chosen by Arkansas Tourism (2021), and an Artists 360 Fellow designated by Mid-America Arts Alliance (2023-2024).

Her music features a timeless, smoky, and ethereal voice often likened to artists such as Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, Phoebe Bridgers, Lana Del Rey, and Nanci Griffith. As a songwriter, she delves into vulnerable themes, and her passionate performances have silenced rooms across the United States and Europe.

Ashtyn is a versatile musician, known for her rhythmic acoustic guitar, piano, and tenor ukulele. Her live performances are enriched by a rotating ensemble of skilled musicians, ranging from baritone guitar and harmonies, to electric guitar, pedal steel, upright bass and drums.

Her self-titled debut EP, Ashtyn Barbaree, was recorded in Nashville, TN at The Butcher Shoppe with David “Fergie” Ferguson, Dave Roe, Kenny Vaughan, Jeffrey Clemens, Michael Rojas and Sean Sullivan, once released, it led to her first European tour in 2018.

Her latest full-length album, Better Luck Next Time, was recorded in Nashville, TN at The Studio Nashville with Chris Scruggs, Jeffrey Clemens, Brook Sutton, Jacob Campbell, Tommy Hannum and Daniel Thiels, then released in June 2022.

She is currently writing her third album, Sent Through The Ceiling, which will be recorded in Bentonville, Arkansas this December 2023 at Haxton Road Studios.

"Her angelic, yet raspy, voice, and intricate Americana-infused melodies pair perfectly with the warm, sunny days ahead."

—Monica Hooper, Arkansas Democrat Gazette

"Met een zeer smaakvol en niet te traditioneel maar ook niet te lichtvoetig of teveel naar pop leunend rootsgeluid, tijdloze songs en een karakteristieke stem heeft Better Luck Next Time van Ashtyn Barbaree alles wat een Amerikaans rootsalbum voor mij aantrekkelijk maakt en ik vind het dan ook geweldig."

"With a very tasteful and not too traditional but not too light-hearted or too pop-leaning roots sound, timeless songs and a characteristic voice, Better Luck Next Time by Ashtyn Barbaree has everything that makes an American roots album attractive to me and I love it."

—Erwin Zijleman, De Krenten Uit De Pop

"Barbaree’s enchanting voice and authentic approach to songwriting has made her a favorite around the Shindig offices."

—Robert Locke, Shindig Music
